Postbox 2 – Home and End Keys

I’m the type of person that loves new programs, paid, free, open source, closed source, everything. If it’s neat and can fill a hole in my day or some how make me more productive, I’m game. I recently was looking for an email client that I could use on Windows, OSX and Linux instead of having to use three different programs. I absolutely love the Mail.app application on OSX and wish that Apple would either allow OSX to be run on non-Apple hardware or, at least, port Mail.app to Windows/Linux.

In any case, I came across a new little email application called Postbox, and since I like to support projects based on open source technology, I purchased a copy.

I’ve had to contact support a couple of times, once for performance issues and once for a “feature” request. The feature request being, to fix the Home and End keys to work as they do in Mail.app. That is for Home to take you to the beginning of the current line and vice versa. This is an issue for Thunderbird as well, which Postbox is based on, and is only an issue with OSX. Each time I’ve contact their support, it has been excellent. For this particular issue, the suggestion was made to use the Thunderbird plugin that addresses this issue called KeyFixer by mattball. A slight modification to the install.rdf file and this plugin will work with Postbox.

I’ve made the modification and have the file available here for anyone who needs it, all credit goes to mattball and Postbox. Download
